Hi,
Just registered and hoping you can help. I'm using a Gateway Laptop with Vista Home Premium OS. I have a BT Voyager 2091 router which was working OK until yesterday when I received an Apple Airport Express which I wish to add to my system/network so that I can send music wirelessly to my HiFi.
I tried to set up the Express, following on screen instructions from their Airport utility software which came on a disc with the unit. The result was that, I managed to disconnect myself from the router and when I now click on ' connect to a network ' there is the following message next to my router ( in the list ) : ' the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network ' !
When I tried to set up the Express, I was asked for security details and I thought it was Wep - whereas I note that when I hover over the router in the list it says : secuity type WPA2-PSK so I'm wondering if I have mucked up the secuity settings by telling the Express that it was Wep !?
Also, I foolishly reset my router and cut myself off from the internet alltogether although I have managed to get back on via a USB connection but the laptop does not connect automatically - I have to go into the router via a web page to sign on. When I try to get to the router via the web page wirelessly then it says that it is unable to navigate to the page.
When ( if ) I get my wireless connection back, I will need to know how to connect that Express without mucking up my system but maybe one thing at a time is best !
Just one more point - the Apple software asked if I wanted to add the Express to an existing network or set up a network. I'm just wondering ( as I don't really understand networks ) if I chose the wrong option. I selected to add the express to a network , but does one laptop connected to a router count as a network ? or should I have chosen the option to set up a network ?
Sorry - so many questions ! Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
Malcolm.
