My (nearly new) Epson expression xp 412 AIO printer/scanner was working fine until to day. It would not print out a PDF sheet and I found a yellow triangle against the 412 and the document pointed to SWMBO's 212 which I had on this computer to set it up some months back. I then removed the 212 driver and I had to do this repeatedly to finally get rid of it.
I tried removing the 412 and re-installing but it still doesn't work.
I have tried it via the the symbols on its own screen as well.
I get the statement above 'Printer driver was not installed.' followed by'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.'
In desparation I updated Windows (I had not updated since August) but it still does not work.
Any ideas? The printer trouble shooter goes around in circles, eventually opening itself yet again.

This has been solved by 'restore' so assume it was an automatic update or similar from Epson as windows update is switched off. I 'restored' back 4 days so it incurred a time lapse - or my memory has......

Glad you managed to sort it Jim :)
Thanks KenB. I am still no wiser really other than it was ok a few days ago which restore proved. It is a known fault and others seem to have it from googling the error. The firefox update does not ring any bells here although I have adblock plus disabled some 3/4 times now. It usually is preceded by a notice saying that a program wants to add on to something to firefox, the negative reply has no effect. Now I have the pain of downloading windows update again. Grrrrr.
