whilst browsing using firefox, i was encouraged to download, (with uninstaller), a toolbar from "on the box" - a tv listings website.

now i cannot find the uninstaller and the thing seems to be giving me problems.

any suggestions to get rid of this toolbar would be most welcome.

Have you tried tools -> addon's could be under extentions or plug ins (thats in firefox itself)

Also it might be lurking in Add/Remove programs section of windows

thanks match,

it was indeed in add ons and it has now been excommunicated.

happy new year.

Your welcome and happy new year to yourself

Just a little advise but I avoid software that insists on installing toolbars. hate them detest them and they do nothing but cause problems and create vulnerabilities.

but in saying that if I really want something and its just a case of uninstalling a Google or Yahoo tool bar then so be it, but if its dodgy Joe's then no way I'd rather live without.

just another little note as I use Firefox as my default Browser, I normally install this sort of crap into IE ;)

Ah the good old Firefox IE debate. There is merit to it.

For instance there are toolbars that only work with IE.

Some malicious toolbars that are actually malware only work with IE for instance.

I use both browsers too Match.

As noted beware if the toolbars are legit and why clutter up your screen with something you don't need. Also even legit toolbars have been known to cause issues.

Glad Match sorted it out for you tismehi.
