A couple of weeks ago, before going on holiday/vacation, I wanted to copy a few photos onto my computer.

When I booted I got a black screen, no desktop just a mouse pointer. Windows had updated the night before so I assumed it was a problem with that, I rebooted but got the same thing several times.

Then I noticed the internet router had been switched off, don't like leaving it on when I'm away.

I switched the router back on and my desktop appeared.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this or knows why it happens?
